How to Add an Email Account to Gmail

If you’d like to use your Gmail account to send and receive messages for an email account that’s hosted on HostM, use the following steps:

  1. Ensure that you have already created the desired email account in your hosting account’s cPanel.

  2. Sign in to your HostM hosting account’s cPanel.

    Your cPanel access details are listed on the hosting account’s Info page in the Client Lounge.

  3. Under the Email header, click the Forwarders icon.

  4. Make sure the email address you’re wanting to add to Gmail is not listed as forwarding email to your Gmail address.

    If you find such an email forwarder listed, delete the forwarder.

  5. Visit the Gmail website using a web browser, then sign in to your Gmail account.

  6. In the top right, click the gear icon, then click Settings.

  7. Click the Accounts and Import tab.

  8. Under Check mail from other acocunts, click Add a mail account.

  9. Enter the following details:

    • Email address: (Full email address of the email account)

    • Password: (Password of the email account)

    • Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail: On

    • Label incoming messages: On

    • (All other checkboxes): Off

  10. Click Add Account to finish.

You should now be able to use your Gmail account to send and receive messages for your newly-added email account!
