Switching to HostM from Another Hosting Provider

Note: If desired, we can help you migrate your websites and email from other services at no additional charge.

Here’s a step-by-step guide for switching the hosting of a domain name from another web hosting provider to HostM:

  1. Ensure that you’re permitted to change the nameservers (DNS) of the domain name you wish to host. If you wish to register a new domain, you may do so during the account opening process or via the Client Lounge from just $12.98/yr, or you may use any domain provider.

  2. Sign in to your account at your domain provider’s website and change the nameservers (DNS) for your domain name to:

    ns1.hostm.net
    ns2.hostm.net
    ns3.hostm.net

  3. Instructions on how to add the domain to your HostM account, upload your website and set up your email addresses are found in your welcome email. Follow the included guide to get your website and email set up properly.

  4. If your domain name is newly registered via the Client Lounge, it should begin working immediately at this point.

If you changed the DNS of your domain, it may take up to 24-48 hours for ISPs worldwide (including your internet connection provider) to automatically recognize the update. Once this occurs, all incoming email and website visitors will be arriving at your HostM account.

  5. We recommend waiting about 72 hours after the DNS change before cancelling your old hosting account.

Enjoy! For further assistance, feel free to open a Client Care ticket via the secure Client Lounge at any time.
